Disability Inclusion Office

Our mission is to provide guidance to the Tangaza University College community in achieving employment and educational access for staff and students with disabilities.

  • We mobilize resources to support activities of and for students with a disability within the college.
  • We provide students with Visual Impairment with information in an alternative format (large print and soft copy)
  • Linking students with disabilities to bodies that may offer financial assistance.
  • Collaborating with the College administration and Academic departments to ensure that students with disabilities receive appropriate instructional and support services to facilitate their learning.
  • Providing information on funding for higher education by various bodies that may support students with disabilities.
  • Providing information to both staff and students with disabilities on registration procedures with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities.
  • Linking staff and students to the National Council for Persons with Disabilities to acquire assistive devices.
  • Providing information to the staff on the process of tax exemption with Kenya Revenue Authority in line with the Persons with Disabilities Act (2013).
  • Providing interpreters (sign language) during major College functions and also in classes where we have students with hearing impairments.
  • Acquisition of assistive devices through linkages with national and international organizations that may provide such devices
  • Identifying, in collaboration with Office of the Dean of Students, suitable accommodation at Tangaza University College Hostel for students with special needs.
  • Providing assistive information for use of the Library resources and facility.
  • Providing information on Classroom or examination accommodations for students with hearing and visually impaired.
  • Liaising with the College Administration to remove both social and physical barriers.
  • Oversee the implementation process of disability inclusion policy.
  • Providing general access information for members of the public attending University events.
