Sr. Elizabeth Ngozi Okpalaenwe, A Missionary Sister of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary (MSHR) holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselling, (PhD) with emphasis on contemplative psychology, from the University Empresarial De Costa Rica, San Jose. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Counselling (MA) at the University of East Anglia, England. She did her first Degree in Education English (B.ED) at Abia State University, Nigeria. She was the Bursar and teacher in the College in Cameroon for 10 years. She was the director and counsellor at the Holy Rosary Sisters Counselling and Peace Center Bo, Sierra Leone for three years. She taught at Catholic University of Eastern Africa for three and half years. She is an experienced counsellor, with particular interest in skills training and therapeutic Counselling. She celebrated her Silver Jubilee of consecrated life in 2014.
She is a Lecturer at Tangaza University College of Eastern Africa, Nairobi – Kenya in the Institute of Spirituality and Religious Formation (ISRF), Faculty of Theology. She demonstrated her capacity for psychological penetration on her inspirational first novel, The Power to Succeed, which is widely read and used both in secondary and tertiary institutions across Europe and Africa. Her second book, The Power to Make a Choice, was published in 2011 together with a play Book titled “the Problem Home” This has been dramatized and put on CD. She has also published short stories and plays. In November, 2014, she published her third academic book titled Psychological Counselling for Africa – Handbook on psychotherapy and cultural Counselling in African Contexts. She has recently edited another book on “Trauma Healing handbook for Africa” in 2017 which she published with her PhD students. She contributed to the published work in the Book “Consecrated Life in Africa” (2015) title “Living the Evangelical Councils in East Africa”. Presently she is doing an extensive research on Trafficking in Persons.
