The programme seeks to enhance the knowledge and skills of guides and counselor to accompany children, adolescents, youth and families facing challenges and offer services in the area of mental health. The programme offers hours of supervised practicum.
Graduates of this course are able to:
• Analyse the diverse issues affecting the psychological well-being of individuals and incorporate them into mental health-care services.
• Apply basic assessment strategies and intervention approaches for the specific needs of clients.
• Provide counselling services that are sensitive to cultural, racial and social diversity.
• Integrate aspects of spirituality into mental health-care programmes.
