Father Giuseppe (Joseph) Caramazza was born in Verona, Italy, on December 18, 1960. He entered the Comboni Missionaries Postulate in Florence in 1979.
After his First Profession, he studied Theology at the Catholic Theological Union (CTU) of Chicago, where he was awarded a Master of Divinity and a Master of Art in World Mission Theology. After his priestly ordination, he worked in media in Italy as sub-editor, and later editor, of Nigrizia, a monthly magazine of African affairs.
Fr. Joseph first appointment in Africa was in South Sudan (1992). He was soon after posted to Kenya, where he has worked since. He however did a short stint in the UK as founder and director of a web-magazine (southworld.org).
Since 2013, he has worked at Tangaza as communication desk of ISMM and lecturer. Fr. Joseph holds a PhD in Religious Studies. His main interest in research is about religion and politics, but he is also passionate about the Bible and Social Transformation. He continues to correspond for Nigrizia (Italy), southworld.org (UK), World Mission (the Philippines), Worldwide (South Africa), and other European publishing houses. He is a member of the Italian Order of Journalists.
Fr. Joseph has written over three hundred magazine articles, mostly on African issues and Biblical themes. He has also authored and edited a number of books both in Italy and Kenya.
