A Brief Introduction to IRDIS
The Institute for Interreligious Dialogue and Islamic Studies (IRDIS) was founded in 2019. IRDIS is run by the Missionaries of Africa (MAfr.) and their partners around three focal areas, academic programmes, outreach and networks.
A Brief History
Currently, IRDIS offers an executive certificate programme of one year, aiming to equip religious professionals with interreligious capacity to work in an ever changing world for peace and cohesion. Since 2018 an annual summer school and a diverse set of webinars, short trainings and international academic exchanges have been conducted by IRDIS. Scholarships and subsidies are available for all IRDIS programmes.
POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
A Concise Outline of the Programmes on Offer
As of 2023, a two-year diploma programme will complement this and BA and MA programmes will be accredited over the next years. IRDIS’ academic programmes are aiming at making interreligious dialogue a widespread and efficient tool for peace in conflictious societies. IRDIS’ expertise and experience have been showcased in the (inter-)religious and secular peacebuilding sector, informing local and global policies and actions.
A Brief Explanation of Why the TUC Programme is the Best
IRDIS Academic programmes are designed to prepare women and men to work in multi-religious
contexts and use IRD as a tool for peace and conflict transformation.
A Brief Description of Where Alumni are now
IRDIS Alumni are spread all over Africa, working in vital functions to apply their knowledge, for example as relevant counterparts in their dioceses, communities or religious organisations for relations to Muslims, Christian denominations and other religions.
