Philosophy equips you with the intellectual discipline to challenge the assumptions that frame the way we think and live. You learn to bring critical philosophical considerations to practical problems. Philosophy renders you with informed decisions about important issues such as: meaning of life, social justice, peace and conflict resolutions, free speech, artificial intelligence, global poverty, climate change, animal welfare, humane psychotherapy, education and expertise.

Elective areas of study include logic, region and religious experience, peace and security, political philosophy and governance, philosophy and law, philosophy and education, media, art and society, philosophy in film and literature, global and environmental ethics, bioethics, narrative psychology and selfhood, health and happiness, African philosophy, Eastern philosophy.
