Institute of Social Communication (ISC)

A Brief Introduction to ISC

The Institute of Social Communication (ISC) originated in the School of Theology in the 1990s, where an academic program in communication was established to equip theology students with media training to communicate the Gospel effectively. The demand for communication and media courses grew, and in 1996, the Department of Social Communication was established, which began accepting non-theology students. Further demand and growth led to the official establishment of The Institute of Social Communication in 2003.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

ISC offers three programs to prepare graduates for successful careers in communication and media:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies
  • Diploma in Social Communication
  • Certificate in Media Production

These programs train students in Print, Radio, and Television Media productions, through communication and media theories and techniques, hands-on training in media production, and practical skills for effective communication. This provides graduates with diverse career opportunities in journalism, broadcasting, advertising, public relations, and digital media.

The programs offered at the ISC are highly regarded for their emphasis on ethical and values-based education, a holistic approach that integrates academic and personal development, experienced faculty, state-of-the-art studios and equipment, networking opportunities, an interdisciplinary approach, and personalized attention and support. Graduates from ISC have found success in various industries, including mainstream media such as NTV, KTN, and Citizen TV, as well as other TV and Radio stations and other media outlets. Graduates also work in NGOs and international organizations such as the UN.
