Tangaza University Chaplaincy

“Welcome to Tangaza University’s Chaplaincy Department.”

As a community rooted in faith, learning, and service, the Chaplaincy exists to journey with you—spiritually, emotionally, and morally—through your time here at Tangaza. Whether you are seeking a quiet space for reflection, pastoral counseling, opportunities for worship, or simply a listening ear, our doors and hearts are always open.

We are blessed to be part of a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive university that values the richness of different traditions and experiences. Here at Chaplaincy, we are committed to fostering a spirit of unity, compassion, and personal growth in line with the Gospel values and the mission of Tangaza University.

We invite you to participate in our liturgical celebrations, retreats, community outreach, and interfaith dialogues. May this be a place where your faith is nurtured, your purpose is clarified, and your spirit is uplifted.

Welcome to Tangaza University—welcome home!

With every blessing,
The Chaplaincy Department,Tangaza University

Key features of the Chaplaincy

The Chaplaincy provides pastoral and spiritual support for students and staff of all faiths. In the Last academic year, we managed to offer the following

Staff Recollection

On 1st November 2024, there was a staff recollection held at the Divine Mercy Shrine (Kyumbi), which was well attended by both teaching and non-teaching staff. The facilitator for the event was Rev. Fr. Peter Imaji, OSA. His presentation was deeply moving, and the topic he addressed was “Call to Holiness: Living out the Catholic Mission in Academia.

Legion Of Mary Group

At the start of the semester, the Legion of Mary group, under the guidance of the chaplaincy office, began daily prayer sessions in the Main Chapel from 1:20 PM to 2:20 PM, fostering our spiritual growth and community bonding.

We also engaged in various works of mercy, such as visiting the sick and elderly, and organizing food and clothing drives for those in need. Our participation in inter-university activities helped us connect with other groups. A highlight was our visit to the Cottolengo Children’s Home, where we donated supplies, and enjoyed time with the children, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved.

Monthly Meetings & Activities

By joining the Catholic Identity team, students and staff will represent a unique integration of faith and cultural practices that significantly influence an individual’s spiritual and moral development.
